Report on Kildare County Clay Pigeon Shoot Sunday 13th July 2014 Narrahmore Bog CO. Kildare.
In aid of St. Lawrences New School Fund
The County Shoot took place by kind permission of Ballitore Game Association at their Club Grounds in Narraghmore on a sunny Sunday in July.
Like previous years most of the set up was done on the Saturday. The course was set up similar to last year. The big change was stand 4, a simultaneous pair of dropping duck that behaved like the real thing with the left target dropping to the left now and then. The High Gun on the day was N Murray Ballinahone G C with a 48 ex 50. We are getting close to that perfect 50 straight.
Thanks must go to all those that supported the shoot on the day. Special thanks must go to Ballytore Game Club for the use of their beautiful club ground. Hempstown Clay Club for the use of their traps and the support and help given by their members on the day. Templeogue Clay Club for the loan of traps, George Cooke for the transport , Jim Brady, Jim Fitzharris, and John Keenan who took the entries during the day. Ian Coleman who compiled the scores. Eugene O Hagen who manned the DTL Pool stand for most of the day and did running repairs on the traps. Others who made a big contribution were Ray O Sullivan who set the course, Willie Coleman, also Alan Clarke who coached and supplied cartridges free to our Junior Shooters and also managed to win the DTL Pool Shoot and finished 2nd in the sporting on the day. Finally to Stan Connelly for the use of the teleporter.
I would sincerely like to thank all those who helped but who are not mentioned here. This year we introduced a new category for visitor clubs not affiliated to the Kildare Region. This won by Hempstown Club. We hope to expand this competition next year. We had 62 entries. It is a shame that more members did not support the day particularly. It is open for all levels Junior to Veteran and has the potential to become a great day in our events calendar, so if you have any ideas or want to become involved please get in touch.
